I am a huge bargain hunter. If I think I’m getting a good deal, I may buy it – even if its something I don’t necessarily need. But whoa … hold everything! I read an article recently about the fact that you can buy solar panels on eBay or Craig’s List! Second hand solar panels sound like a bargain I cannot pass up!
However, I also recall the old adage, “you get what you pay for.” Are you compromising quality, efficiency and effectiveness if you buy bargain solar panels? Wouldn’t you be better off to pay full price? Not necessarily, if you know how to be a smart bargain shopper.
Anyone familiar with eBay knows that you should check the approval rating of anyone selling items on the site. Read the comments submitted to see whether buyers are happy with the description of items, price and shipping costs. I have been an eBay member for more than 5 years, and am proud to say that I have a 100% rating, both for buying and selling. That says a lot about the person or business with whom you will be dealing.
eBay listings will also specify whether the solar panels you desire to buy are new or used, and the condition in which they should be when they arrive at their destination. Any variation should be pointed out to the seller and, if you are not given a refund or exchange of product, a negative rating may be appropriate. Shop carefully! If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
You may be able to get better deals on Craig’s List if you are buying second hand solar panels. First of all, you could avoid shipping costs because CL usually has local listings, which allows you to pick up the goods right in town. The downside is that, unlike eBay, sellers are anonymous. You can’t check their track record, reliability or whether or not the panels are legitimate (i.e honest or stolen).
Buy direct from certain manufacturers, if necessary, as shown in the video here:
Do you think you would buy second hand solar panels? if so, just be sure to ask plenty of questions, get a money-back guarantee, or at least a warranty, if possible. Other than that, you can make out very well by paying less for quality solar panels that others have ordered but no longer need or want.
Among other things, you’ll want to make sure that you have a quality solar panel contractor to install your solar panels. Be sure to check out the related post on this subject to learn more.
Best of luck with your solar panel installation! There are plenty of good deals out there to help you go green and save some, as well!

One thing to consider, you might NOT be able to qualify for all of the incentives if you buy used hardware.
