UK Feed-in Tariff could encourage more renewable industries

UK Feed-in Tariff could encourage more renewable industries

On Thursday, March 25, 2010, why not attend a feed-in tariff speech in the UK?

From 6:00 – 8:00pm, the presentation will include comments from John Moriarty, Assistant Director, Feed-in Tariffs Policy, Department of Energy and Climate Change, United Kingdom.  The topic is “Accelerating the Transition to a Low Carbon Economy.”

The timing for this event is planned to coincide with the April 1 launch of the UK’s new feed-in tariff policy, which is anticipated to provide a boost to the country’s advanced clean energy market.

The United Kingdom is the first country that has made CO2 reduction targets legally binding, and it has more than 10 years’ experience in implementing a strategic commitment to a low carbon economy.

Solar in the UK to save energy and money

The United Kingdom has established a financial framework to help encourage investment and clean energy policies on a broad scale.  The feed-in tariffs for small scale renewable energy generation means that many may be eligible to receive “clean energy cashback” for wind, solar and hydro-power installations.

Within just 10 years, the feed in tariff should be able to support a quarter million small scale, low-carbon electricity installations like solar and wind.  The result will be a savings of about 7 million tons of CO2 emissions.
