The Sunfish allows for plug-in solar power

I’ve talked with many homeowners who want to install solar panels, but are worried about the cost.  But now you can go solar at a fraction of the cost hassle normally required to do so.

A new home solar kit is literally plug-in solar power.  Called the “Sunfish,” all that is required is an electrical outlet and a large, southern facing window that gets regular exposure.

The Sunfish generates 1,000 watts of power, which can completely offset the energy requirements of a large appliance, such as your refrigerator.  Or, you can get a smaller version that generates 200 watts of solar electricity – enough to power your lights, or maybe your laptop!

Plug-in solar power will be available in 2011, when the Sunfish goes on sale.  The 1,000 watt version will cost about $3,000-4,000.  Unlike home solar panels, the cost of the Sunfish can be recouped in a mere 4 years.  After that, you’ll save several hundred dollars a year in electricity costs.

The Sunfish is a Clarion Technologies product.  It weighs 200 pounds and takes 6-8 hours to fully install.

Can’t wait to see this on the market.

  2. Interesting product very innovative. I am curious how it will do on the solar market, but it is good that consumers get more to choose from for providing there house of solar energy.

  3. Check out kwiksolar products too! Plug and play has never been easier.
